Disette looked around for a moment. Even at this distance, the heat began to rise. The flames conforted her heart. For the peasants of her kind, this fort was the symbol of war, of the taxes and of the cruelty of their prince - for her, it was the symbol of the death of her young husband, killed in petty wars against the southern orc tribes.
Yes, it was a total success.
But as her men were rallying, she saw a group of soldiers trying to chase them. They were unorganized, afraid, tired and half armed, but were a treat anyway. Moreover, Disette wanted to settle an exemple : from now on, no lord would even lift an hand on the people of her village.
"The battle is not finished yet !" she yelled, as the first of them bite the dust under her blade. "Fight back and let no one alive !"

During the human-orc wars and the massive cultural and religious expension, many human counties spent a lot of money and soldiers waging wars with orcs tribes.
Towns were requested in two ways : men were conscripted and tax were raised. The town of Waterwood took it for some years, sending their best farmhands to conscription and accepting the raise of new taxes on everyday life goods ; butter, then wheat, then hunt game.
When it came to wood, however, who was the main ressource of the village, villagers decided that they had enough of that. Sedition spread like a forest fire inside the village - then it came to the neighbour villages. Soon the whole region was rioting.
The lord was waging war to the south, therefore the garrison of the castle was greatly reduced.
Disette Rivier, a young girl whose husband was killed during the said war, managed to rally the rioters of the region and decided to launch a raid against the castle. They came by night, easily defeated the outnummered guards, and burned, stole and raped everything they could.
The young woman distinguished herself by slaying a big number of the defending soldiers, without a rage but with a demonic method.
When the lord came back, his army was weakend by the tribal wars and lacking a foothold in his own country, wasn't able to organize an efficient repression.
The riot disbanded soon, but Disette remained an important political figure of the region.
